GOAL® Certified Facilitators & GOAL® Certified Trainers
GOAL hires and trains female facilitators to work with the girls in our direct service programs. The hiring process for a GOAL facilitator takes into account the following: level of education; experience working with youth; experience working with diverse populations of youth; and less quantifiable characteristics of care and concern for youth development as evidenced by what they have done in their lives. We train experienced GOAL® Certified Facilitators to become GOAL® Certified Trainers who can then train facilitators for our partner organizations.
For our partners, GOAL trains adult women to become GOAL® Certified Facilitators for their girls and their own GOAL Girls’ Groups. The facilitators, indentified by our partners, undergo a two part training experience before they become GOAL® Certified Facilitators. This training includes one 8-hour training where women learn:
about experiential education; research in brain differences in girls and boys; research GOAL is based on including female adolescent development, multi-cultural education, and youth development;
how to be a “Guide on the Side"; the art of the debrief and practice leading and facilitating GOAL activities (with GOAL® Certified Trainers observing and providing guidance for improvement).
The training also includes a 2-hour Getting Started Session where GOAL staff works one-on-one with our partners to help them start their own program, including customization as needed. GOAL staff then observes their program to improve service, offers ongoing troubleshooting and program support, and provides evaluation tools, supports, and reports. |
